Hormel Foodservice Launches Comprehensive Advertising Campaign for Food Safety Risks Associated with Deli Meats
In 2011, Hormel Foods Foodservice launched a comprehensive advertising campaign designed to inform and educate foodservice operators of the potential food safety risks associated with deli meats. This was yet another step in our longstanding commitment to food safety.
In 2005, we made a major investment in installing High Pressure Processing (HPP) equipment on site. Hormel Foods is the first major food processor in the United States to commercialize HPP on a national scale. We also oversee the process directly on our own premises. HPP is the most effective way to eliminate dangerous foodborne pathogens such as listeria from sliced deli meats—without any compromise in flavor or texture. The technology also helps extend shelf life for the grocer and the consumer.
Food safety is one of the most important issues any foodservice operator faces. Hormel Foods Foodservice has set out to educate operators on deli meat contamination, and we offer a solution—Hormel® Natural Choice® and Bread Ready® sliced deli meats, both of which undergo HPP. Our food safety campaign includes impactful print and digital ads in industry publications. A food safety website, which includes a video demonstration of HPP as well as links to additional resources, further emphasizes that Hormel Foods Foodservice is committed to deli meat food safety.
Hormel Foods Products Named Colonel Award Winners by PLBuyer
Hormel Foods was named “Best of the Best” in private label supply in three categories: canned meat, gelatins/puddings and kosher products by PL Buyer’s Category Colonel Awards. For the past 11 years, PL Buyer’s Category Colonel Awards have recognized private label industry suppliers’ commitment to private label product quality, knowledge of the private label business and superior skills in helping retail customers drive store brand volume, profits and competitive differentiation.
